MTN Group and Huawei have officially inaugurated the Technology Innovation Lab at MTN Group's headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa. The lab aims to advance digital innovation in Africa.
The lab is designed to drive the development, deployment, and adoption of innovative solutions through regional collaboration. It focuses on 5G, AI, big data analytics, cloud computing, and digital financial services.
MTN's CEO highlighted the lab's potential to fuel economic growth, foster innovation and create development opportunities. Ralph Mupita, President and Chief Executive Officer of MTN Group, announced that the new lab highlights the company's dedication to creating sustainable and transformative solutions tailored for Africa.
"It will catalyze the growth of the digital economy, fostering innovation and generating long-lasting opportunities to empower communities and advance the continent's development." Ralph added.
"We believe that the establishment of the innovation lab will accelerate the development of Africa's digital economy and build a more prosperous and sustainable African continent." said Cao Ming, President of Huawei's Wireless Solutions
He added that Huawei plans to explore new business models to advance the industry with MTN.
