Threads finally lets users delete their account separately from Instagram

Threads is now letting users delete their profiles without affecting their Instagram accounts

Meta is rolling out a way for users to delete their Threads profile without deleting their Instagram account. Threads users can access the new feature from the settings menu in a new “Delete or Deactivate Profile” section. According to a post from Instagram boss Adam Mosseri, the company was “looking into” a way to delete a Threads account on its own.

Mosseri also shared that the platform is rolling out a way to opt out of having your Threads posts featured on Facebook and Instagram. The feature first popped up over the weekend, and Meta introduced it after it heard feedback from users who want more control over their experience on the platform.

This new ability to delete your Threads profile addresses an early complaint with the app, requiring you to sign up with an Instagram account. Multiple reports suggest that more features like Hashtags and DMs will be coming into the app. Meta will seek to pursue more engagement for existing users and growth on the platform beyond the almost 100 million monthly users reported last month.
