OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, is launching a new video-generation model called Sora. Sora is a text-to-video tool that lets you produce realistic footage with “compelling characters that express vibrant emotions,” OpenAI said in a blog post.
The text-to-video model allows users to create photorealistic videos up to a minute long. Also, Sora can generate 1080p movie-like scenes with multiple characters, different types of motion, and background details when given a brief or detailed description or a still image.
In a blog post on its latest AI tool, OpenAI said, “We’re teaching AI to understand and simulate the physical world in motion, with the goal of training models that help people solve problems that require real-world interaction.”
For now, the company is limiting access to a few researchers and video creators. These experts are expected to test the product for vulnerability to evading OpenAI’s terms of service, which prohibit “extreme violence, sexual content, hateful imagery, celebrity likeness, or the IP of others”, per the company’s blog post.
