Flutterwave partners with EFCC to establish Cybercrime Research Center

Nigerian-based Fintech Flutterwave is partnering with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to establish a Cybercrime research centre

Flutterwave has announced a partnership with Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to establish a state-of-the-art Cybercrime Research Center. In a statement on Thursday, the partnership was formalised on Friday, June 14, 2024, during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abuja between Flutterwave and the EFCC.

This partnership is geared towards strengthening the fight against Internet crime and enhancing the security of online transactions in Nigeria's digital financial ecosystem. Flutterwave stated that the initiative aims to intensify the fight against internet crime, enhance the security of business transactions, and provide a sustainable lifeline to youths nationwide.

The partnership will also contribute significantly to developing more robust cybersecurity measures in Nigeria's rapidly growing digital economy.
The Cybercrime Research Center will have advanced technology to facilitate research, analysis, and prevention of cyber-related crimes.

The MoU was signed by the Secretary of the EFCC, Mr Mohammadu Hammajoda, and Olugbenga Agboola for Flutterwave, marking a pivotal moment in the collaborative efforts to enhance financial security in Nigeria and beyond.
