Nigerian-based payment technology solutions provider eTranzact has officially expanded into Uganda. The company's expansion comes after receiving operational licenses from the Central Bank of Uganda in April 2024.
The licenses, granted under the National Payment Systems Operator Act, allow the company to operate as eTranzact Platform Limited, Uganda. They permit eTranzact to offer various payment solutions and services, including digital payment platforms and mobile banking solutions.
eTranzact is headquartered in the United Kingdom (UK), publicly listed in Nigeria, and already operates in several African countries, including Ghana, South Africa, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Liberia.
Speaking to the press, Group Chief Executive Officer and Founder of eTranzact Global Limited, Dr Valentine Obi, at a press event stated:
"We are thrilled about acquiring the operational license from the Central Bank of Uganda. This achievement signifies our commitment to expanding our footprint globally and deepening financial inclusion on the continent".
Dr Valentine Obi also expressed confidence in the company's ability to empower businesses with cutting-edge technology.
