Super App Gozem to launch mobile money solution

West African super app Gozem has disclosed plans for the imminent launch of its fintech product Gozem Money in Togo

One of West Africa's super Apps, Gozem, looks to launch its fintech product, Gozem Money. The mobile money solution is scheduled for release later this year. It will enable users to perform various financial transactions through their Gozem wallet: bill payments, purchases within and outside the Gozem ecosystem, money transfers, and personal finance management.

The service aims to provide an accessible alternative for digital payments while promoting the growth of digital financial services through interoperability with existing platforms.

Since its inception as a taxi-hailing service in Togo in 2018, Gozem has grown to operate in 16 cities across four countries, boasting over one million registered users and facilitating more than 20 million trips.

Speaking on the latest development, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Gozem, Gregory Costamagna said,

"I think we have a fantastic differentiator. Generally speaking, our competitors are the telco, which offers mobile money services, and sometimes you have standalone digital wallets as well."
"What we're trying to offer is an integrated wallet solution that is included in a suite of different services. And so the key difference in the market is this," added Gregory.

Jean-Martial Moulaud, COO and group director of Gozem stated that Gozem Money represents a natural evolution of the app, aligning with its goal to simplify users' lives as a comprehensive super app.

Gozem plans to expand the service to other countries where it operates, potentially including Benin, Gabon, and Cameroon.
